Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participated in Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo 2016 (AIME 2016) held in Melbourne, Australia during February 23 and 24, aiming to attract more industry partners to Macao for conventions and incentive travel.

MGTO joined with Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and trade representatives of 15 local enterprises comprising MICE companies, event organizer, travel agents, ferry company, hotels, convention and exhibition center participated at AIME 2016, to promote Macao business tourism.

MGTO promotes Travel Stimulation Program and showcases Macao’s latest business tourism development and products including event venues, hotels, sightseeing attractions, restaurants, events and festivities plus various development plans.

MGTO is striving to enrich the tourism product portfolio of Macau to cater for the interest of different tourist markets. With various tourism incentive schemes, MGTO hopes to encourage more visitors, organizations and enterprises will choose Macau as destination for incentive tourism, wedding tourism and student tours which will facilitate the diversification of tourism development. 

Being one of the premier events in the meetings and events industry in the Asia-Pacific region, AIME was held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre this year. The Expo encompassed a tradeshow, education seminar and networking sessions, providing an important communication platform for industry delegates from around the world.

Since 1st January 2016, IPIM took over the duties for the implementation of a series of support programmes dedicated to the convention and exhibition industry, such as the “MICE and Business Travel Stimulation Programme”, and to organize professionals from local convention, exhibition and tourism industry to travel overseas to participate in trade fairs and business travel shows, so to promote networking between operators of Macao’s MICE industry and their counterparts outside Macao.
