Under the requirement of the Administrative Regulation No. 3/2005 on Investors, Managerial Personnel, Technical and Professional Qualification Holders Residency Scheme, a total of 784 new applications for investment residency were received by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) in 2009. Among which were 753 cases for managerial personnel, technical and professional qualification holders and 31 cases for major investment and major investment plan.

In 2009, 3,173 applications for investment residency were approved, including 2,607 cases for fixed assets purchase, 549 cases for managerial personnel, technical and professional qualification holders and 17 cases for major investment and major investment plan.
