Chief Executive meets Guangdong CPC Secretary

The Chief Executive, Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, met with the Secretary of the Guangdong CPC Provincial Committee, Mr Wang Yang, in Beijing today and concurred that the two sides would further promote their co-operation and seek mutual benefits.

Mr Wang and Mr Ho talked about several issues, including "The Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta (2008-2020)”, the diversification of Macao’s economic spectrum, the development of Hengqin by Guangdong and Macao, and Guangdong’s support to Macao on the areas of electricity, water and food safety.

Mr Wang reviewed the results of the co-operation between the two sides in the last year, which saw significant progress on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project, of which construction is expected to begin this year.

Mr Ho thanked the Guangdong CPC Provincial Committee and the Guangdong Provincial Government for their support to the Macao Government over the past few years.

Those at the meeting included the Governor of Guangdong, Mr Huang Huahua; Vice Governor, Mr Wan Qingliang; the Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macao, Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen; the Chief-of-Office of the Office of the Chief Executive, Mr Ho Veng On.

The Chief Executive attended a banquet hosted by Mr Wang after the meeting.
