High-level economic forums are a major component of the 13th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair. Every year, senior government officials, leader of business organisations and successful business and industrial entrepreneurs are invited to attend the Forum to work together to promote regional and cross-regional economic co-operation.
During this year’s MIF, the International Trade and Investment Forum 2008, organised by the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce of PRC, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Macao Chamber of Commerce and IPIM, with the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) as the Special Supporting Organisations and the Taipei World Trade Centre (TWTC) as the Co-organiser, will be held at 3:00pm, on 23 October (after the Grand Opening of MIF) at the Sicily Room of the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.
The organiser has invited Mr. Francis Tam, Secretary of Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government and Mr. Jiang Zengwei, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, P.R.C. to deliver speeches at the Forum. Various ministerial officials from the Mainland and Portuguese-speaking countries will give speeches too, thematic talks will also be given by leaders of trade promotion organisations (TPOs) and renowned business figures from around the world.
The theme of the International Trade and Investment Forum 2008 is To Enhance Cross-regional Enterprise Co-operation. The Forum will explore the interactive relationship between regional economic development and international trade, how to make use of Macao’s strength in promoting co-operation and business opportunities across the region, introduction of trade and economic co-operation business opportunities and marketing potentials in various regions, as well as the roles of TPOs and investment promotion organisations (IPOs) in cross-regional economic co-operation.
Guests attending will include senior government leaders and officials attending MIF, leaders and representatives from Macao and overseas (particularly African and Portuguese-speaking countries) business organisations, the Mainland, Macao, as well as business people from the city and overseas.
The International Trade and Investment Forum 2008 is this year’s major event, all local and overseas entrepreneurs are welcome to attend. A simultaneous interpretation service will be provided in Putonghua, Cantonese, Portuguese and English.
