Information from the Statistics and Census Service indicated that per-capita spending of visitors for the fourth quarter of 2007 increased by 3% to MOP 1,714 over the same quarter of 2006. Per-capita spending of Mainland visitors took the lead, at MOP 3,641 and that of Hong Kong visitors was MOP-1,145. Compared with the fourth quarter of 2006, per-capita spending of tourists and same-day visitors both went up by 2% to MOP 2,381 and MOP 535 respectively.
Per-capita non-shopping spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors rose by 16% year-on-year to MOP 1,073, of which the expenses on accommodation and food & beverage accounted for 45% and 35% respectively. However, per-capita shopping spending decreased by 14% to MOP 641, and the expenses on local food products and clothing shared 32% and 16% respectively.
Per-diem spending of visitors was MOP 1,505, an increase of 2% over the fourth quarter of 2006. Mainland visitors had the highest per-diem spending, at MOP 2,331.
The average length of stay of visitors remained unchanged as the fourth quarter of 2006, at 1.1 days. The average for tourists decreased by 0.1 day to 1.6 days, while same-day visitors stayed 0.1 day longer to 0.3 day.
