Infrared temperature scanning devices would soon be introduced in the three main checkpoints to identify people with fever more effectively, a press release by Health Bureau disclosed today (April 23).
Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Chui Sai On, who heads a task force to coordinate preventive measures against SARS, had authorized the Health Bureau to purchase infrared body temperature detectors last week, according to the press release.
The Health Bureau noted that they are looking at the most advanced model was purchased the devices would be put into service once, according to the press release.
During the Easter holiday, many arrivals at Macao were asked to have their body temperature taken. The Health Bureau has already announced that the measure would be continued after the holiday.
The three main checkpoints of Macao are the Border Gate, the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and the Macao International Airport respectively.
