Chief Executive Edmund Ho this afternoon met with WHO expert Dr. Kouichi Morita who visits Macao to observe the precautionary measures taken by the government.
They have exchanged opinion concerning the precautionary measures. Mr. Ho said that the Government would take full effort in SARS preventions and would establish stronger link with the WHO. He also said that the Government welcome more advises from the WHO concerning SARS preventions.
Meanwhile, The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Chui Sai On said during the luncheon with Dr. Morita that a working group from the Health Bureau would visit the Guangdong Province to meet with the relative departments and discuss cooperation in SARS preventions.
Mr. Chui said that the Government would also take reference in the Mainland’s experience in treating SAR patients with traditional Chinese medicines.
He emphasized that Macao and Guangdong have had smooth cooperation in the area of healthcare since the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and the communication concerning SARS was lucid, adding that the two authorities had agreed to cooperate and to support each other.
Mr. Chui said that he had visited the Ministry of Health and met with the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, And the Ministry of Health had expressed their will to provide technical support timely, if any SARS case should be found in Macao.
