The Cultural Institute will hold a conference entitled "Conservation of Urban Heritage: Macao Vision" on 10-12 September.
Overseas professionals and experts in cultural heritage and conservation have been invited to come to Macao to share their thoughts and experiences. It is hoped that their broad visions and solid theoretical backgrounds will assist in the future plans for cultural heritage conservation for Macao.
There will be three sub-themes: (1) Cultural Significance (including cultural identity and historical development)/; (2) Urban Development vs. Heritage Preservation (including planning issues and urban design guidelines)/; and (3) Adaptive Re-use (including tourism development, public use, and economic viability).
This conference will consist of presentations and workshops. Mr. Christopher Pound (ICOMOS, Member of the International Scientific Committee on Historic Towns), and Dr. Yongtanit Pimonsathean (Assistant Professor, Department of Urban & Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok), will be among the guest speakers.
