At the invitation of Macau Grand Prix Committee, race director of FIA World Formula 1 Championship, Charles Whiting, will once again this year assume the position of the race director for the 49th Grand Prix.
In order to ensure the security standard of the circuit for the 49th Grand Prix, Charles Whiting was accompanied by the Coordinator of Macau Grand Prix Committee Eng. Costa Antunes, members of the Sporting Subcommittee and Infrastructure Subcommittee inspected the Guia Circuit on Wednesday (31 July) at 10:00 a.m.
During the track inspection, Charles Whiting carefully checked the current condition of the circuit, special attention had been paid to the Moorish Hill section, which has went through major renovation due to restructure of traffic network of the Reservoir.
Afterwards, Charles Whiting held a work meeting with the Sporting Subcommittee and Infrastructure Subcommittee, where they had exchanged opinions regarding security and maintenance of the circuit, allocation of the barriers and had confirmed the provisional race programme as well.
As an important international sport event, Macau Grand Prix is organized in a manner meeting the international standard. The safety of the circuit is taken with great care. The Macau Grand Prix Committee, as previously, invited experts in the motor sports to monitor the organization of the event.
The sporting consultant for Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 and the Guia Race, Barry Bland came to Macau on 26-27 July. He had a work meeting with the Macao Grand Prix Committee and the Sporting Subcommittee.
After the restructure, the Macau Grand Prix Committee strives to increase the level of races and all the preparation and promotion for the Grand Prix.
