The Dengue Fever Task Force today (4 July) introduced a series of measures to prevent the spread of dengue fever in the latter half of this year.

The task force, with members from several related governmental departments, said that a promotional campaign on the prevention of dengue fever would be started in mid July.

Accordingto the report, more than 300 unattended construction sites and empty buildings and over 16,000 tons of debris have been cleared. The task force said that aside from educating the residents, further action would be taken throughout the territory.

The representative from the Health Bureau said that the result of a study has revealed the possibility of the epidemic spreading in the territory. He called upon the residents to clean their houses frequently in order to eradicate mosquitoes which are the medium for spreading the illness.

The Dengue Fever Task Force, headed by the Secretary for Public Administration and Justice, was established in January this year.
