Governor of Guangdong Province, Lu Ruihua, said on Wednesday that Macau and Guangdong province would continue to strengthen the bilateral cooperation after his 3-day official visit to Macau.
Lu concluded his visit at the press conference on the last day of his 3-day visit to the SAR, emphasized that Macau and Guangdong province had achieved a consensus in the directions in various areas, such as launching a number of joint venture development projects between Macau and the adjacent Zhuhai Special Economic Zone, and a bonded zone for export-geared manufacturing near Gaolon Port.
Mr. Lu revealed that a golf club is to be built in Hengqin Island, a mean to develop the island into a tourist destination. Many investors have shown interest in this project, he added.
Mr. Lu pointed out that both sides had agreed to extend operating hours at the Macau-Zhuhai cargo customs checkpoints, possibly to 8:00 p.m, to further boost bilateral trade, adding that it is up to the Chinese State Council in Beijing to make the final decision.
Lu Ruihua had a working meeting with Chief Executive, Edmund Ho, shortly after his arrival.
Mr. Lu also visited the Macau Cultural Center, Wastewater Treatment Plant and Waste Incineration Plant, the new Macau-Zhuhai border checkpoint on Taipa Island and the University of Macau.
