Operational test events for the 3x3 Basketball and Karate competitions of the 15th National Games were held successfully, on 21 and 22 June, at respectively Zone A of the Macao East Asian Games Dome and Macao Forum.

The two operational test events were conducted simultaneously, in order to assess readiness to host multiple competitions taking place concurrently across different venues, thereby testing interdepartmental coordination ahead of the actual 15th National Games in November.

Technical representatives from the respective national sports associations were invited for the test events to provide guidance. Operational testing followed formal competition procedures and requirements for each of the test events, in order to evaluate preparations for the 15th National Games.

During the tests, volunteers were deployed across multiple operational roles.

A series of hypothetical scenarios were staged during the test events in a bid to assess emergency response capabilities. Among the simulated incidents were an outbreak of an infectious disease among athletes during training and temporary power outages at the competition venues.

The overall outcome of the operational test events met the organisers’ expectations, providing valuable experience ahead of the official competitions scheduled for November.

With the completion of these latest test events, along with the previously-conducted operational testing for the 5x5 Basketball (Men’s Under-18 Category), Volleyball (Women’s Adult Category), and Table Tennis competitions, all operational testing for the Macao Zone of the 15th National Games has now been completed.

For the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, operational testing for two Badminton events to be held at the Macao Competition Zone will be conducted on 16 and 17 August.

The 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, and the 9th National Special Olympic Games are being jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The events will be staged in November and December.
