Macao’s wet markets are important facilities in terms of quality of life of local people. The Government has dedicated increasing effort to enhancing the environment at wet markets in order to provide better experiences for shoppers and traders.

The Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex is located near Senado Square in the city centre. On the complex’s ground floor, are stalls selling dry goods, eggs, salted fish and many other items.

Stalls offering fresh fish are also located on the ground floor of the Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex.

Pork, beef and frozen meats are sold on the first floor of the complex.

In the market, there is a monitor displaying the daily average price of various cuts of meat.

On the complex’s second floor, are several stalls selling fresh vegetables.

As well as offering for sale fresh food and live items, the complex also has a food court on the third floor of the market, offering dishes popular with many locals.

The fourth floor of the complex houses an activity centre managed by the Municipal Affairs Bureau. The centre has approximately 1,000 square metres of space for leisure activities. Its facilities – including table tennis equipment, a reading room and a TV room – are open free of charge to members of the public.

The Mercado de S. Domingos Municipal Complex also doubles as a Government-designated shelter centre. In case of emergency, such as local flooding, members of the public based nearby may take refuge there.
