Dr. Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park is located adjacent to the Border Gate Checkpoint and is one of the most popular parks in the densely populated Northern District of Macao. From the park, visitors can see the railway station on the Zhuhai side of the boundary, that serves the Guangzhou–Zhuhai Intercity Railway.

The park is commonly known to locals as “Canal dos Patos park” due to the fact the waterway of that name passes alongside it. The park has a blend of Chinese and Western landscaping features. It features an artificial lake, a zigzag bridge and Chinese-style pavilions.

Before 1983, the area that is now the park contained rubble left behind at the time “Canal dos Patos” was dug and created. The area’s transformation as a park is considered a pilot initiative regarding the creation of a greater number of green spaces – with built-in eco-friendly facilities – in Macao.

At the centre of Dr. Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park is a large lawn and a 500-metre-long walkway. The park can accommodate a variety of activities. It has a football field, badminton court, library, swimming pool, children’s playground, and adult fitness equipment, as well as a barbecue area, and performance area.

The zigzag bridge spans an artificial lake and gives access to an extensive lawn dotted with many footpaths, that in turn interlink with fitness trails that run through the entire park. While walking the trails, parkgoers can enjoy the sight of an ornamental waterfall and a green aviary.
