The Labor Day holiday (29 April – 3 May) of the Mainland will soon start from this Saturday, the first 1st May Labor Day holiday Macao welcomes after travel restrictions were lifted. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) are actively getting prepared in a variety of ways, including a promotional campaign towards visitors and the travel trade to provide practical information, raise awareness through dissemination as well as conduct patrols for supervision. The Office also maintains close communication with Mainland tourism authorities to safeguard tourism service quality and reinforce Macao’s destination image.

Comprehensive travel information

Visitors can tailor their own trip itineraries through MGTO’s website or “Experience Macao” mobile application. They can conveniently tap into Macao travel information about the latest tourist attractions, activities, events and festivals, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, shopping and more. They can also follow MGTO’s official accounts on social media (WeChat, Weibo, Douyin, Tiktok, Xiaohongshu, Facebook and Instagram) for more information. Room rates of different room categories declared by various local hotels are publicized on Macao Tourism Industry Net regularly.

Smart application for visitor flows

MGTO encourages visitors to harness the “smart application for visitor flows” to check the forecast of visitor flows at over 117 tourist attractions in Macao on the website: https://poimonitor.macaotourism.gov.mo, to enhance sightseeing in staggered periods. By accessing the Public Security Police Force’s “Real-Time Information Platform of Border Ports”: http://www.fsm.gov.mo/psp/pspmonitor via mobile phone or computer, visitors can also check real-time border-crossing images at various ports of entry, hence choosing the suitable timing of arrival and departure.

“Experience Macao, Unlimited” promotional campaign for monthly highlights

This year, MGTO continues to roll out the “Experience Macao, Unlimited” promotional campaign to spotlight the monthly myriad of wonderful city highlights under a special theme for each month. The theme of May is “May there be FUN” for a showcase of various vibrant trip experiences visitors can enjoy in Macao. To boost community tourism and spending, MGTO also sponsored different community activities which will unfold around the Labor Day holiday, including the “MAK MAK’s great adventure in Macao – Novel under Guia Lighthouse” at Guia Lighthouse on 29 and 30 April, “Pátio do Espinho‧Historic Footprint Guided Tour” at Pátio do Espinho on 29 and 30 April, and Praia do Manduco Carnival in the vicinity of Rua da Praia do Manduco from 1 – 31 May.

To promote the culture of the Macau Grand Prix, the Macao Grand Prix Museum and Macau Artist Society jointly organize the Racing Art Exhibition – “Speed”. Some 30 artworks are displayed in the Macao Grand Prix Museum for public appreciation from 26 April to 31 August. Normally closed on Tuesdays, the Museum will be open on 2 May as a special arrangement for the Labor Day holiday. There will be a 1st May Golden Week special offer at the gift shop from 1 – 14 May. Some of its commodities are on special sale. Visitors are welcome to visit the Museum and gift shop.

Online – offline promotions

MGTO vigorously plans and rolls out a diversity of online and offline marketing initiatives and special offers on sea, land and air transportations targeting different visitor markets to diversify and tap into a wider range of visitor source. Hotel coupons will be distributed to visitors through the Mainland’s major online travel platforms. Stackable special offers will also be launched at some of the platforms. The longer visitors stay in Macao, the more special offers are available to them, which will attract visitors to Macao for a longer stay.

Safeguard destination image through inspection, supervision and dissemination

For the arrival of the 1st May Labor Day holiday, MGTO has sent letters to industry operators to raise their awareness on different aspects. In addition, the Office has stepped up cross-departmental inspections and supervision at various ports of entry, tourist attractions and shopping areas in collaboration with Public Security Police Force, Labour Affairs Bureau, Consumer Council and Macao Customs Service. The Office also maintains regular communication and exchange of information with the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Consumer Council, Municipal Affairs Bureau, Transport Bureau and so forth, while remaining in close communication with Mainland tourism authorities through the established communication scheme for timely exchange of information, joining hands to oversee the tourist market properly.

In consideration of the latest situation, the Office will duly adjust manpower at Tourist Information counters, while the operator service of MGTO’s Tourism Hotline (853) 2833 3000 will attend to visitors’ enquiries 24-hours as usual. Upon receiving reports of different emergencies, the Office will promptly follow up and handle.
