  • UM representatives sign an agreement on the establishment of the University Alliance for Portuguese Language Education in China during an online ceremony

Representatives from the University of Macau (UM), Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), and the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) held an online ceremony to sign a tri-party agreement on the establishment of the University Alliance for Portuguese Language Education in China.  

During the online ceremony, UM Rector Yonghua Song, BFSU President Yang Dan, and ULisboa Rector António Manuel da Cruz Serra signed the agreement on behalf of their universities. UM’s Vice Rector Rui Martins delivered a speech, in which he said that UM has a long history of collaboration with BFSU and ULisboa. The alliance will play the role of a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries to enhance collaboration between the two sides in Portuguese language education. In the future, member institutions will launch a variety of collaborations in the areas of talent development, student recruitment and employment, scientific research, collaborative innovation, and community service.

The alliance is a nonprofit, voluntary, and cooperative alliance of higher education institutions. It aims to promote high-quality collaboration in Portuguese language education in China, to combine the strengths of member institutions in Portuguese language education and scientific research, to promote the sharing of resources, and to enhance collaboration in talent development and technological innovation.
