As consumption by citizens and the number of inbound tourists are expected to increase during Lunar New Year, the Consumer Council held a meeting before the festival with Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) ), Macao Government Tourist Office (DST), Transport Bureau (DSAT), Judiciary Police (PJ), Public Security Police Force (PSP), Macao Custom Service, Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), Health Bureau (SS) and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) to discuss on the protection of consumer rights for local citizens as well as inbound tourists.
To better safeguard consumer rights, the Council organizes patrols with other enforcement departments to promote good business practice among shops. The Council also collaborates with consumer organizations in the Mainland to offer inbound tourists information and suggestion on shopping in Macao.
During Chinese New Year Holiday (11 February from 13:00 to 16 February), the Consumer Council hotline 89889315 will offer 24-hours recording service, complaints or inquiries will be responded and assistance will be given if necessary.
If anyone finds his or her consumer rights being infringed, he or she should file a complaint at the Council or other enforcement departments. The Council’s one-step platform “Consumer Online” is available, consumers may visit “Consumer Online” on mobile devices and lodge complaints using the default options with the submission of text or pictures. Complaints or inquiries may also be submitted via the Consumer Council’s WeChat account.
