Macao Polytechnic Institute, with the support of Macao Daily, has launched the “Chinese-Portuguese News Learning App”, to make better use of the role of Macao as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and promote Sino-Portuguese economic, trade and cultural cooperation and exchanges. The news source from Macao Daily will provide users with Chinese-Portuguese bilingual information, deliver news and information of China and Macao to the Portuguese-speaking countries, and at the same time provide a new learning source for Portuguese language learners in Macao, Mainland China and other countries, as well as for Chinese language learners in the Portuguese speaking countries.

The “Chinese-Portuguese News Learning App” is a scientific research product developed by the Macao Polytechnic Institute, which provides parallel news in both Chinese and Portuguese languages. Macao Polytechnic Institute has been continuously contributing to the research and development of machine translation, big data, artificial intelligence and other fields. The newly launched “Chinese-Portuguese News Learning App” relies on the Chinese-Portuguese bilingual parallel corpus and the world's leading neural network machine translation technology, combined with the rich experience of the institute in Chinese-Portuguese fields of language and translation teaching, thus realizing the transformation and application of scientific research results.

The “Chinese-Portuguese News Learning App” is a dynamic news information platform that provides users with the latest and hottest news and information in the form of Chinese and Portuguese bilingual text.  The news section is divided into “local news”, “China news” and “world news”, covering current affairs in Macao, China and Portuguese-speaking countries.  In addition, in order to enhance the user experience, the App has a news retrieval function, which supports tag-based retrieval of popular topics about the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Belt and Road”.

The “Chinese-Portuguese News Learning App” facilitates users' understanding of China and Portuguese-speaking countries in both Chinese and Portuguese languages, and provides bilingual learning materials for Chinese and Portuguese language learners.
