The Seniors Academy of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) organized students to visit the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) where the ‘Wandering across the Landscape’ exhibition is being held. The exhibition presents more than 160 foreign artists’ artworks in various media, showcases the city’s historical landscapes between the 17th and 21st centuries and gives an overview of Macao-themed artistic creations in the modern and contemporary era. Through the exhibition, the elderly students experienced the charm of the city in different periods and they responded enthusiastically.
The exhibition is narrated by a docent, who guides participants to walk around and appreciate the different creative media, diversified art styles and unique perspectives of Macao that span different centuries. Through the collection on display, participants expressed their delight at being able to trace the landscape of Macao through different works of art, allowing the lost scenery to echo with today’s. The city is constantly changing, but fortunately there are precious “traces” of different periods that have been preserved. By tracing its past, the exhibition builds and generates precious memories and perspectives that are unique to each viewer.
