The Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) publishes a notice today on the official website to solicit public opinions on the impact of the airport expansion on the environment. The solicitation will last for 14 days.

In accordance with the relevant laws and regulations of mainland China on the impact of the airport expansion on the environment, AACM publishes the first notice to solicit the opinions of the public between 13 and 26 November 2020 on the expansion work of the airport. The environmental assessment is being carried out by the Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., which is hired by the CCCC Third Harbor Consultants Co., Ltd., the latter being the design company of the Macau International Airport expansion work. AACM will forward all opinions collected to the research institute for their analysis.

The airport expansion work will cover the neighbouring waters of the two connecting taxiways and the runway. The whole area extends south to the construction waste zone adjacent to the airport, north to the new reclaimed E2 Zone, west to the apron and east to the runway island. The land reclamation area is shown in the attached picture.

The notice is published on the special session entitled “Future Development of Macau International Airport” of the AACM website with the following hyperlink https://www.aacm.gov.mo/development.php. The opinion form and the information for the submission channels can be viewed in the full text. The general public is welcome to express their opinions to AACM or directly to the research institute within the 14-day period.
