The tropical storm "Nangka" (2016) located at the northern part of the South China Sea, is moving west-northwest towards the Hainan Island. “Nangka” will maintain a distance of about 400 kilometers away from Macao. However, under the combined effect of “Nangka” and Northeast monsoon, the winds in Macao are expected to strengthen significantly and sustain for a period of time. The weather between 13th and 14th October will be unstable, with frequent heavy showers and thunderstorms. The prevailing easterlies are expected to reach wind scale level 6 to 7, occasionally 8 with gusts. Meanwhile, under the combined influence of the Storm Surge and heavy showers, there will be flooding in the Inner Harbor area between 5 am and 9 am this morning, and the highest flooding level of around 0.4 meters is expected.
