The Department of Accounting and Information Management, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), University of Macau (UM), and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the United Kingdom recently co-organised an information seminar on accounting. During the event, representatives of CIMA and a guest speaker shared the latest information in the field of accounting.

During the seminar, the CIMA representatives gave an introduction to the structure of the institute’s examination structure, certification process, and professional assistance for taking the examinations. The guest speaker was James Law, a member of CIMA and an alumnus from the FBA. Law shared his study and work experience with the students. The seminar not only attracted students of accounting major, but also those from other disciplines. Some students asked the CIMA representatives about the scope of the exam exemption and the procedure. The students benefited greatly from the seminar as they learned more about the importance of CIMA’s professional qualification.

CIMA’s professional qualification is one of the major professional accounting qualifications in the world. It can help enhance accounting students’ job mobility, employability, and competitiveness. Students with the qualification can work in a wide range of positions, from finance to business consultancy, and will sustain a competitive edge in the profession.
