The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will visit Beijing tomorrow (Thursday) to receive a report – by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences – on the work of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government.

The Macao SAR Government had previously commissioned the Academy to examine in detail the implementation of the “One country, two systems” principle in the Macao SAR. It was with the aim of getting an overview – at the moment marking the 20th anniversary of the Macao SAR – on how the principle has been practised in Macao.

The research also covers systematic analysis of the Macao SAR Government’s administration over a period of time. Findings from the report will serve as academic reference points for the steady implementation of the “One country, two systems” principle.

The Macao SAR Government has formed over the years a sound mechanism for cooperation with the Academy, making use of its strength in scientific research. The cooperation with the Academy helps foster the capabilities of the Macao SAR Government and Macao education institutions in terms of research in social sciences, and cultivation of a greater number of local researchers in that field.

Accompanying the Chief Executive to Beijing will be the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive’s Office, Ms O Lam; and the Director of the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau, Mr Mi Jian. The delegation will return to Macao on Friday (1 November).

During Mr Chui’s absence, the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan, will take the role of Acting Chief Executive.
