Signal No.1 was issued at 12:30 L.T. on the 30th of July. The present signal may be replaced by signal No.3 according to the situation at night. The low pressure over the northern part of the South China Sea has intensified into a tropical depression. It is expected to further intensify and move towards the west coast of Guangdong and Hainan Island. The tropical depression will be closest to Macau on July 31st, and it will bring unstable weather to coastal region of Guangdong. There will be showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow, and winds are expected to reach strong wind level and be gusty at times.
Under the combined effect of astronomical tide and outer circulation of the tropical depression, there will be floodings in Inner Harbour area between 6am and 11am on July 31st. The highest flooding level is expected to be about 0.7m. The public are advised to take precautions against strong winds and storm surge as well as to pay attention to the latest weather information before going out.
