The 2nd International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao (“IFFAM” or the “Film Festival”) will hold an Industry Hub at the Macao Cultural Centre for three consecutive days from today (9th December) until 11th December. Presenting a series of outstanding films and rolling out projects to cultivate and inspire local filmmakers to tap into their creative potentials, the Film Festival also organizes the Industry Hub to facilitate exchange among industry professionals and in turn foster the industry development.
The Industry Hub mainly comprises two sessions namely IFFAM Project Market and Macao Forum. Bringing international filmmakers together with film investors, distributors and collaborative partners, IFFAM organizes the IFFAM Project Market to provide a matching platform and create opportunities for filmmakers to bring their new film projects to life. On the other hand, the Macao Forum has invited over 30 film industry delegates from worldwide onto a dynamic and lively discussion platform on key topics of the industry in the form of multilateral exchange, with the aim to inspire new ways of thinking.
IFFAM Project Market creates partnership opportunities for new film projects
The IFFAM Organizing Committee has invited 14 new film projects from across the globe to participate in the IFFAM Project Market this year. Their places of origin are as follows: Portugal, Korea/the United States, Australia, the United States/Japan, Malaysia, the United States/France/Indonesia, Portugal/Germany, Netherlands/Germany/Indonesia/Malaysia, Spain, Belgium/Canada, Brazil, Canada/UK/Mainland China, Macao, and Macao/Hong Kong. The film projects are divided into four major categories: Genre Projects (six films), Auteur Projects (three films), International Partner Projects (three films) and Macao Projects (two films). The teams each presented their film projects to industry delegates in the Public Pitching session held today. Among these projects, a jury of three film professionals will select three most outstanding film projects, which will be awarded a total price of 30,000 US dollars sponsored by three film production companies at the IFFAM Project Market Awards Ceremony on 11th December. Furthermore, the Project Meetings session will be held to facilitate individual meetings for directors/producers of the film projects and invited film businesses (buyer/seller/distributor/investor) to explore partnership opportunities.
Macao Forum inspires ground-breaking ideas
The Macao Forum will be held tomorrow (10th December) as a major highlight of the Industry Hub. Over 30 film industry professionals have been invited from around the world to attend a series of closed discussion sessions on the following topics – “How can the film industry maintain consumer loyalty to the medium, in a world where TV is better than ever?”, “Do Film Festivals still have the same significance they used to? How can we use them to launch films effectively?” and “How is the growing Chinese market affecting the rest of the world’s independent business?”. The closed sessions aspire to encourage industry delegates to share their perspectives freely and inspire each other with new ideas in a relaxing and lively atmosphere. All the participants of the Industry Hub are welcome to join the Forum Presentation which will highlight the outcome of discussions.
Over 250 film industry professionals from 26 countries and regions have registered for participation in the Industry Hub this year.
