A number of talks were held in the first half year by the Consumer Council for primary schools, serving almost 900 primary school students and aiming at teaching them the right use of money and environmental protection, etc.
The Council organized talks for Pui Cheng Middle School, Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, and Escola Dom João Paulino, etc. in the first half year, covering topics like money management and environmental protection. The talks were given with the aid of animation video and Q&A section to bring out the importance of the right use of pocket money, the habit of saving money, as well as the relationship between consumer behavior and environmental protection. Further, students were taught to make price comparisons, become a smart consumer, and avoid the habit of buying things at impulse.
The teachers acknowledge the practical information given at the talks and welcome the Council to hold more similar talks for students from other primary grades.
The Council states that a positive consumption attitude cultivated at an early age helps to prevent teenagers from being affected by the current materialistic consumer behavior. Moreover, the behaviour and habit of a consumer are parts of civil duties, the Council hopes to encourage students from all grades to foster a good sense of civil awareness and become a smart and responsible consumer.
