Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Zhongshan Tourism Bureau and Zhuhai Culture Sports and Tourism Bureau joined hands to promote their tourism resources and multi-destination travel in Guizhou and Jiangsu, making new efforts to brand their cities as one regional destination.

Consisting of 50 delegates representing the tourism authorities and travel industry of the three destinations, the delegation participated in the joint tourism presentation seminars of Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao in Guiyang, Guizhou Province and Suzhou, Jiangsu Province on 1st and 3rd June respectively. In the tourism presentation seminars themed as “Fragrant Hill in the past; Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao today”, the delegation introduced their multi-destination travel itineraries and rich tourism resources to local tourism officials and members of the trade and the press. They rode on these occasions to tap further into visitor markets in cities along the Zhuhai-Guiyang high-speed rail route and the eastern region of China, with the aim to deepen regional tourism cooperation and development between Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao. Representatives of travel agency, airline, hotel and integrated resort from Macao also engaged in both seminars.

The first tourism presentation seminar themed as “Fragrant Hill in the past; Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao today” was held at Hotel Pullman Guiyang. It attracted over 80 members of the travel trade and the press in the city. Deputy Director of Guiyang Tourism Development Committee, Zeng Xiaozhu, was also invited to the seminar. During the seminar, a tourism promotional video about Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao was shown to participants. The tourism authorities and industry delegates of the three destinations also presented their tourism situation and latest products. In addition, an interactive lucky draw, travel mart and dinner were held. Deputy Director of Zhongshan Tourism Bureau, Deng Shuling, Deputy Director of Zhuhai Tourism Development Centre, Ke Yong, and Head of Marketing Division of MGTO, Cora Vong attended the aforementioned activities together with others.

The second seminar of joint tourism presentation was held in Scholars Hotel Pingjiang Fu in Suzhou was attended by Associate Consultant of Suzhou Tourism Bureau, Zhao Jinkun. The seminar attracted some 50 members of the travel trade and the press in the city. Director of Zhuhai Tourism Development Centre, Zhong Guohuai, Head of Marketing Division of MGTO, Cora Vong, Deputy Chief of Marketing Section of Zhongshan Tourism Bureau, Li Kai, and other personages attended the aforementioned activities.

MGTO addressed the participants in both tourism presentation seminars as the Rotating Chairman of the Tourism Alliance of Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao designated for the term of 2017. Cora Vong expressed, “Since 2010, our three tourism authorities have been promoting regional travel in concerted efforts across the Mainland every year with a continuous commitment to strengthen our cooperation. Geographically, we are very close to each other, with Zhuhai being adjacent to Zhongshan and Macao on the map. It takes just an hour to travel from Zhongshan to Macau by car. With convenient transportations and the unique diversity we each have to offer as a destination, visitors can enjoy three different spectra of local cultures and unique cityscapes offered in one trip.

Following their work meeting held in Macao in March, the three tourism authorities invited members of the travel trade to join their missions to Indonesia and Malaysia for a range of destination promotions in mid April. Multi-destination tourism products were showcased in the mega tourism promotional event “Experience Macao – Malaysia” held in Kuala Lumpur, followed by a “multi-destination” tourism promotion, a travel mart and a media reception.

Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao formed a tourism alliance in 2006 to start carrying out joint marketing initiatives under their image as the “Fragrant Hill in the past; Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao today”. They conduct regular meetings each year to discuss annual collaborative plans. The three tourism authorities take turns to serve as the tourism alliance chairman.

In recent years, by leveraging the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, MGTO has been collaborating with its partner tourism entities in the region to develop a greater variety of travel itineraries and organize multi-destination tourism promotions in the Mainland and overseas. With the rise of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development, MGTO will embrace the new possibilities and deepen cooperation with the other cities concerned, thus reinforcing their strengths and promoting their brand as a regional tourism destination across the world.
