Typhoon signal No. 3 was hoisted last night (20) by the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), showing that Typhoon Haima is approaching Macao. SMG will consider issuing a higher typhoon signal at a later time. In view of the changing weather conditions, the 21st Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (21MIF) has prepared contingency plans and measures while maintaining close contact with SMG. The contingency plans have been communicated to guests and exhibitors from around the world. A 24-hour hotline of the Secretariat actively helps guests cope with impacts brought by the typhoon.
Arrangements on the coming two days (21 and 22++ October) are as follows:
1. If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is hoisted by SMG before 8:30 a.m., the venue (including Business Matching) will be temporarily closed; if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is removed/changed to a lower warning signal by SMG before 2:30 p.m. of the same day, the venue will be re-opened two hours thereafter; if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is removed/changed to a lower warning signal by SMG after 2:30 pm. of the same day, the venue will be closed for the day.
2. If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is hoisted by SMG before 8:30 a.m., the venue (including Forums/Meetings/ Promotion Seminars) will be temporarily closed; if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is removed/changed to a lower warning signal by SMG before 2:30 p.m. of the same day, the venue will be re-opened two hours thereafter; if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is removed/changed to a lower warning signal by SMG after 2:30 pm. of the same day, the venue will be closed for the day.
In addition, contingency traffic plans are in place. If typhoon signal No. 8 is hoisted by SMG during the Fair, the shuttle bus service to the venue will be suspended while the service from the venue will be enhanced to facilitate visitors leaving the venue. The shuttle bus service to the venue from all departure points will be resumed 1.5 hours after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is removed by SMG. The shuttle bus frequency may be increased depending on the actual situation.
