Travel security alert to South Africa

Given the recent security situation in South Africa, the Consulate-General of China in Durban and the Consulate-General of China in Johannesburg issued respectively travel security alerts to Chinese nationals and Chinese institutions to raise their risk awareness, taking the initiative to monitor the local security situation and avoid travelling to protest regions and surrounding areas. In case of emergency, take precautions by leaving the area and avoid any conflict with protesters.

The Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) will keep monitoring the latest developments and reminds Macao residents who intend to travel to South Africa to follow closely the safety situation, critically assess security risks, and cautiously consider travel plans to South Africa. Macao residents already in South Africa should strengthen security precautions to protect their personal safety and avoid travelling to protest regions and surrounding areas.

Until the present moment, GGCT has not received any request for information or assistance.
