GMBPF registers brisk sales and purchase on the third day

The 2013 GMBPF is a carnival-style event embracing trade, culture, shopping, leisurely activities and entertainment. The exhibition area covers 6,000 square meters and is divided into the Guangdong Pavilion and Macao Pavilion, with a total of 269 booths. As GMBPF falls on the weekend, many residents would take this opportunity to go for shopping and enjoy various performances with their family.

The Guangdong Pavilion comprises 182 booths, with exhibitors coming from 19 prefecture-level cities, many of which are crowned either as “China’s Reputable Products”, “China’s Famous Trademarks” or “Guangdong’s Brand Products”.

The booths in the Guangdong Pavilion were crowded by a large number of visitors who lined up for free tasting or watched the product demonstration. Exhibitor from Shenzhen Ms. Wang said that this is the third year they have participated in this event, and their booth mainly sells soybean and mushroom products and at present, over 50% of their products have been sold out. She also expected that all products will be sold out during the event. She further noted that among their products, soybean dried extract is the best selling product and they also planned to increase the number of stock next year. Local resident Ms. Kwan said that she has visited the event every year due to the reasonable price and quality of the products in the fair. She continued saying that dried seafood and foodstuffs available for sale at Guangdong Pavilion are her special favourite while other commodities and daily necessities would also be on her shopping list if necessary.

Macao products meet with great favour and record favourable sales

The Macao Pavilion which comprises a total of 87 booths mainly sells featured products “Made in Macao”, of “Macao Brands” or products with local agents in Macao. As today and tomorrow are the peak period of the event, many exhibitors would seize this opportunity to launch different promotions, such as free tasting, discount offers, lucky draw, to market their products and attract more patrons. Tourist from Guangzhou Ms. Zhu said that this is the first time she has participated in the fair and the types of products for sale are more than expected and she bought many Macao food specialties, e.g. almond cake, as souvenirs for her relatives and friends. Local resident Mr. Lei who bought a big pack of cured meat said that he has come to the event every year with his wife and the fair gives him a chance to buy home all necessary foodstuffs and daily necessities in a same place as he has no time for shopping due to his busy working schedule.

GMBPF helps promote trade between China and Portuguese speaking countries

Committed to promoting Macao as a trade and economic platform among China and Portuguese speaking countries and assisting Guangdong enterprises to explore the above countries and overseas markets, GMBPF has endeavoured to aid Macao enterprises to introduce products from the Portuguese speaking countries to the Mainland. Person in charge of a Portuguese red wine agency Mr. Chan who has participated in the fair every year noted that he has gained access to many Mainland buyers via this event in the few years and successfully marketed their products to the Mainland. He further noted that this year they would continue to market various types of Portuguese red wine in hopes of further promoting their red wine to the Mainland enterprises and tourists and exploring new customer sources.

Ms. Hong, a representive of a trading company and agency for Portuguese products, such as red wine, bacalhau, stuffed oilve, sardine, etc., said that this is the second year she has participated in the event and she thought that it is a good platform which provides them opportunity to gain access to the Mainland enterprises and directly promote Portuguese foodstuffs to the residents and tourists. She continued saying that although they didn't find an appropriate Mainland enterpriese as thier co-operation partner, she remained confident in their products and believed that these products have the potential to enter the Mainland market and they would continue to explore business opportunities this year.

Moreover, a company selling Portuguese and Macao souvenirs told that they hoped to promote the culture of Portugal and Macao via this event. Person in charge of the company Ms. Chang said that all their Portuguese souvenirs, such as Portuguese pottery and ceramic plates, multicoloured rooster painting products etc., are direclty imported from Portugal, and the sales of this year is favourable while over 50% of their patrons are from Mainland, who are particularly fond of Portuguese pottery and ceramic souvenirs.
