Jointly organized by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institution (IPIM) and the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province, the 2012 Guangdong and Macao Branded Products Fair (GMBPF) has entered its third day today. As many visitors were accompanied by their family members, relatives and friends at the weekend, vigorous sales and visitors flow were seen at the venue. Many exhibitors also took this opportunity to attract customers via various promotions, such as discounted offers, onsite demonstration and free tasting etc.

The best place to go this weekend, GMBPF sees robust sales and purchase

The 2012 GMBPF venue covers an area of 6,000 square meters, with a total of 247 booths, with 162 Guangdong booths. The exhibition floor this year is divided into different zones, including gifts and souvenirs, daily necessities and food products. As the last two days of the event fall on weekend, the Fair has become a good place to go for leisure for local residents. The Guangdong exhibition sales area is widely received by shoppers of food products and daily necessities. Many exhibitors also seized the timing to offer special discounts, free gifts and good aftersales service to attract more customers. Free tasting is available at most booths selling food products. Sweet smell was scattered around the venue while crowds queued up for free tasting in front of food booths. An exhibitor from Guangzhou Ms. Yang who has participated in the event for three years said that the sales is good and some of their products was sold out on the first day, and some patrons came to know their products via the display at the newly added Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Trade and Exhibition Center this year. She believed that this also helps boost the sales.

Xinjiang Jiashi melon widely received by residents

To assist the development in Xinjiang Province, the Guangdong Province has specially invited their counterpart Kashi of Xinjiang Province to have their commerce departments to organize corporations to take part in the GMBPF, in order to explore new ways to promote Xinjiang. This year, the Fair, for the first time, includes an exhibitor from Kashi of Xinjiang. It is also the first that this corporation introduces their local specialty sweet Jiashi melon in the Hong Kong and Macao regions. Xinjiang exhibitor Mr. Ding said that the melons record ideal sales. Local resident Ms. Man who has bought the Jiashi melons noted that she worked in Xinjiang for several years and have known the fruit for long time. She also praised the fresh and sweet taste of the fruit. She further said that she came here with her family especially for this fruit after she leaned it from the media.

Macao Pavilion sees vigorous sales

Like the previous year, the Macao Pavilion lays emphasis on sales and showcase of Macao products, brands, design, and cultural and creative products of Macao, as well as featured products distributed via local corporations. There are 85 local corporations participating in the event. Ms. Cheong, selling frozen food at the Macao Pavilion, noted that from their previous experience, they could sell around 300 box crabs in two days. She remained confident that their business will be even more better these two days. Mr. Lei, selling Macao cultural and creative products, told that they would have discounted offers these two days to allow more customers to buy their favorite products at lower prices.

Distributors of Portuguese products seeks to explore Mainland market via GMBPF

To further strengthen the role of Macao as a trade and economic platform for China and Portugal, the Organizers has specially invited more Macao corporations selling or distributing products from the Portuguese speaking countries, in hopes of further invigorating and exploring the sales market for corporations from the two places. This, on the one hand, can help the Guangdong branded products to open the Portuguese speaking countries or overseas market via the platform of Macao, while on the other hand, can assist these corporations to market the products from the Portuguese speaking countries in the Chinese Mainland. Local exhibitor and distributor of Portuguese wine Ms. Chong said that as a small and medium-sized enterprise, it is rather difficult for them to open the Mainland market on their own; however, participating in the exhibition or fair organized by the government can give more confidence to the Mainland merchandisers on their products. Via such events, they can know more Mainland merchandisers and have chance to introduce their products into the Mainland market.

Distributor of Portuguese canned food Mr. Wong said that they seek to explore the Mainland market via this event. He continued that Portuguese food, e.g. Portuguese sardines, sausage, olive oil, etc, is currently less known to the Mainland customers, and they can take this opportunity to introduce it to more people, thereby increasing the demand for this kind of food in the Mainland. Negotiation with the Mainland merchandisers has been underway to explore room for cooperation.

One cooperation protocol and five presentations concluded today

Today, the Fair has concluded one cooperation protocol “Agent Intention on Smooth Herb Plant Drink Health Products in Macao” between the Zhuhai Ji Dong Tang Company Limited and the Ke Ke Health Products Co., Ltd, in addition to 245 business matching sessions. The Fair also organized several presentations on different topics, including “Tips for Quality, Green and Healthy Life”, “ Green Water and Red Mountains: The Magical Scent of Wuyi Rock Tea”, “SINOMAX-Healthy Home Life Style” and “Happy Guangdong, Colorful Macao- Let Grand Brand LED Light up Your Wisdom Life”, etc.
