The 2012 Guangdong and Macao Branded Products Fair (GMBPF) has entered its second day today, attracting many enthusiastic shoppers including local residents and tourists. An initial attempt of the GMBPF - the “Forum on Guangdong and Macao Products Packaging Design Cooperation & Development” - seeks to enhance the attention and understanding of the corporations from Guangdong and Macao on products packaging design via the sharing of the latest market moves and experiences between experts and corporations, thereby promoting trade and economic cooperation between the two regions.

Premiere Forum on Guangdong and Macao Products Packaging Design Cooperation & Development helps corporations to explore business opportunities

On the second day of the Fair, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institution (IPIM) and the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province jointly organized the “Forum on Guangdong and Macao Products Packaging Design Cooperation & Development”, in hopes of strengthening understanding of Guangdong and Macao’s industrial and commercial sectors on the relevant latest information and paving the way for further business cooperation via the briefing of the latest market moves and experience sharing between the experts and corporations delegates from the two regions.

In her speech, Executive Director of IPIM, Mrs. Irene V.K. Lau pointed out that product packaging design is part and parcel to the effectiveness of sales and marketing, which has received increasing attention from various sectors in recent years. She further noted that following strengthening cooperation between Guangdong and Macao, this can help the Guangdong and Macao industrial and commercial sectors to make full use of their respective advantages and provide more opportunities for cooperation in packaging design. Deputy Director General of Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province, Mr. Zhong Jianhui addressed that while the economic development of Guangdong is currently at the stage of transformation, the environmentally-friendly and pollution free packaging design industry will definitely play an important role and give impetus to industrial transformation and upgrade, and for enterprises in manufacturing, services and trade in the two regions, it is also a business with great potential.

During the Fair, several keynote speakers gave talks on different topics including “The Development Track of the Packaging of Green Food”, “The Impact of Product Packaging Design on Sales”, “Design and Development Trend of Commodity Packaging”, etc. Following the Forum, the Organizers led all guests and merchants to visit the Macao Ideas in order to enable them to better grasp the development status of Macao’s local manufacturing, products and brands.

Exhibition floor newly arranged by industry puts together exhibits of the same type

For easier access by merchandizers and the public and to be more centered towards different themes, the exhibition floor will be zoned according to the industries such as gifts and souvenirs, daily necessities and food products instead of the previous zoning method based on different cities and provinces. An exhibitor from Yangjiang, Mr. Ye said that the newly arranged exhibition floor is so convenient as in a supermarket, visitors can easily choose and buy their favorite products in their preferred zone. The salesperson at the tea leaf booth, Ms. Cheong also praised the new arrangement. She further noted that their sales this year has increased compared to that of last year. She continued that their products become more attractive as many visitors would specially go to their booth to taste a cup of tea after tasting various kinds of food at other booths. Moreover, a local resident Mr. Lei said that the new exhibition floor has made the commodities more uniform and standard, creating a cozier shopping environment.

256 business matching sessions and 4 cooperation agreements successfully concluded

Today, the Fair has continued to promote business negotiations and matching between the participating corporations and successfully concluded 256 business matching sessions. In addition, 4 cooperation agreements has been signed between corporations from Macao, Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Foshan, covering areas of leather products, textile retail and wholesale, Mainland hygienic products to be distributed in Macao and sales of specialty food.

Professional seminars and presentations widely received by merchandisers and residents

To increase the channels for product propaganda and promotion and strengthen exchange between participants and exhibitors, the Organizers has held four professional seminars and presentations on different topics, including “The Health Promoting Effect and Collection of Natural Crystal”, “Bestselling Products Recommended by Shi Rong”, “Food and Culinary” and “Health and Beauty - the Secret to Chinese tea”. These seminars and presentations not only attracted numerous merchandisers from Macao and Guangdong, but also widely received by the local residents and tourists.

Furthermore, the Organizers once again set up the City Galleries this year in order to give an overview of the development, investment environment and local featured products of various Guangdong municipalities and Macao to the general public so as to enable participants to come to a better understanding of the Guangdong and Macao branded products from different perspectives.

Overseas and local merchants and Macao residents are all welcome to the GMBPF

Vigorous sales and purchase were seen on the second day of the Fair while local residents also flocked to the event. The Fair will open to the public from 11am to 8pm tomorrow (4th August). More professional seminars and presentations, cultural and arts performances, lucky draw and marketing promotions await you. Free shuttle bus service is provided to allow easy access for visitors to the venue at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf from the urban areas.
