CAM-Macau International Airport Company signed an agreement on 7 June with the Bank of China, Macao Branch, for a HK$1.2 million bridging loan.

The one-year loan was arranged in order to refinance the HK$600 million notes which were issued in 1994 for financing the construction of the airport, and the HK$600 million bridging loan signed in 2001.

The Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Ao Man Long, attended the signing ceremony. He referred to the agreement as provisional while both parties would discuss further solutions.

Meanwhile, the Macao government announced that there will be a review every six months of the procedures taken last year, following the 11 September incident in the USA, which authorized airlines operating in Macao to charge additional fees for insurance surcharges.

The Macau International Airport opened in December 1995.
