In compliance with the Macao SAR government’s policy to continuously improve livelihood services and the quality of life of residents, and in response to the needs of Macao medical institutions and caring institutions, the Macao Polytechnic University trains nursing assistants and improves the knowledge, skills and attitudes of caregivers to ensure the quality of care services. The Centre for Continuing Education of the Macao Polytechnic University launched the “Nursing Assistant Training Course” for the first time in 2023, and registrations were enthusiastic. In response to social needs, Macao Polytechnic University admitted the second cohort of “Nursing Assistant Training Course” this year to continue to provide systematic training for those who are interested in joining the health care profession.
The class opening ceremony of the second cohort of “Nurse Assistant Training Course” was held recently. Ms. Maggie Hau, acting Director of the Centre for Continuing Education of Macao Polytechnic University, welcomed the new cohort of students and encouraged them to actively learn nursing professional knowledge and skills, equip themselves to join related industries, and create a wonderful future. Dr. Bernice Lam Nogueira, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports of Macao Polytechnic University, encouraged the new students to study hard and not only fully master nursing professional knowledge and skills, but also nurture personal and professional talents such as team building, interpersonal relationships, communication skills, quality and safety, and so on, with the goal of contributing to the construction of a “patient-centred” high-quality medical service system.
In addition to continuing to offer diversified training courses and providing various types of professional training in response to commissions from institutions or groups, the Centre for Continuing Education of Macao Polytechnic University will also respond to changes in market demand for talents in the future and consider opening more professional training courses based on the needs of industries. The aim is to improve the professional capability of employees and create career development prospectives for the upward mobility of talents.
