Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 35th Macao International Music Festival will stage a series of performances, including The musicAeterna Orchestra under the baton of Teodor Currentzis, the concert AuRora by fado singer Gisela João, the concert Song of the Ch’in presented by pristine guqin player Chen Leiji and the Chamber Ensemble of the China NCPA Orchestra, the concert Songs from Other Places by jazz diva Stacy Kent, as well as the closing performance Echoes Of Life co-created by German-Japanese pianist Alice Sara Ott and international award-winning architect Hakan Demirel. A limited number of tickets are still available for some of these performances.

Maverick conductor Teodor Currentzis and his musicAeterna will present two extrasensory concerts on 27 and 28 October at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, featuring classical masterpieces by Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. On 28 and 29 October, guqin player Chen Leiji joins hands with the Chamber Ensemble of the China NCPA Orchestra for the crossover concert Song of the Ch’in, showcasing a dialogue and resonance between Chinese and Western string instruments at the Mandarin’s House, a site inscribed on the World Heritage list.

Renowned fado singer Gisela João will present the concert AuRora on 28 October at the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium, featuring a selection of songs that delves into the essence of fado music, allowing the audience to enjoy a vocal experience filled with most diverse flavours of life.

Jazz diva Stacey Kent will be returning to Macao for the concert Songs from Other Places to be held on 29 October at the Venetian Theatre, featuring a number of original songs and jazz classics, as well as Tango in Macao, a collaboration with her husband Jim Tomlinson and the Nobel of Literature Laureate Kazuo Ishiguro. Music aficionados should not miss this marvelous performance.

The closing performance Echoes Of Life, a performance jointly created by the young German-Japanese pianist Alice Sara Ott and award-winning architect Hakan Demirel, will be held on 30 October at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Featuring an enchanting recital by Ott and distinct video installations devised by Demirel around Chopin’s 24 Preludes, the performance will lead the audience on a rich journey of life weaved together with a unique audio-visual experience.
