Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts and expenditure of the Transport, Storage & Communications Sector amounted to MOP28.65 billion and MOP23.59 billion respectively in 2024, up by 7.5% and 8.3% year-on-year. Gross Surplus of the sector totalled MOP5.34 billion.

As regards the Transport and Storage Sector, receipts rose by 10.4% year-on-year to MOP21.66 billion, of which receipts from Passenger Transport Services (MOP8.31 billion) and Cargo Transport Services (MOP3.18 billion) went up by 17.2% and 7.9% respectively. Expenditure of the sector increased by 10.8% year-on-year to MOP18.88 billion, and Gross Surplus totalled MOP2.73 billion.

Analysed by industry, receipts of Supporting & Auxiliary Transport Activities rose by 11.6% year-on-year to MOP9.54 billion, underpinned by the rise in receipts from Services of Travel Agencies & Management Services. Besides, receipts of Land Transport (MOP5.55 billion) and Air Transport (MOP5.36 billion) showed respective growth of 0.6% and 21.4% on account of an increase in receipts from Passenger Transport Services. In terms of Gross Surplus, Supporting & Auxiliary Transport Activities and Land Transport made relatively large contributions to the sector, recording MOP1.58 billion and MOP1.06 billion respectively.

With respect to the Communications Sector, receipts and expenditure both decreased slightly by 0.4% year-on-year to MOP6.99 billion and MOP4.72 billion respectively in 2024. Gross Surplus amounted to MOP2.61 billion. The majority of receipts and Gross Surplus of the Communications Sector came from the Telecommunications Services industry, at MOP6.37 billion and MOP2.58 billion respectively, representing over 90% of the sector’s totals.

There were 2,854 establishments operating in the Transport, Storage & Communications Sector in 2024, with 2,823 establishments engaged in the Transport and Storage Sector, and 31 establishments in the Communications Sector. The scope of the Transport and Storage Sector includes Land Transport, Sea Transport, Air Transport and Supporting & Auxiliary Transport Activities, whereas the scope of the Communications Sector includes Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, Independent Postal Services and Telecommunications Services.
