On 26 March 2024, Macao Polytechnic University hosted the “MPU Careers Day 2024” to provide a one-stop career development platform for university students and establish diversified recruitment channels for corporations and organisations. The participating units in the career fair included over 140 institutions and companies from Macao, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the Greater Bay Area, offering 4,000 job vacancies and internship opportunities. This event aimed to provide employment information and internship opportunities for students.
The opening ceremony of the MPU Careers Day was held at the University Auditorium. The ceremony was officiated by the Secretary-General of Macao Polytechnic University, Ms. Lei Vai Fong, directors of various academic units, and representatives from various participating organisations and enterprises. To express gratitude for the support of the participating corporations and organisations, Secretary-General Ms. Lei and other university representatives presented certificates of appreciation to each supporting organisation.
Ms. Lao Weng Ian, Head of the Student Affairs Office at Macao Polytechnic University, stated that the series of career development events during the 2024 MPU Careers Day is diverse and rich, featuring 16 specialised seminars, over 140 companies participating in the job fair, as well as workshops on interview skills, job search strategies, corporate visits, and the achievement sharing exhibition of the Art Talent Development Showcase. These activities aim to comprehensively assist university students in understanding the current job market environment and its demands, enabling them to plan their careers effectively. This year’s participating companies encompass public institutions, healthcare, leisure, information technology and media, banking, finance and accounting firms, event planning, youth entrepreneurship, financial technology, telecommunications, aviation services and transportation, education and social services, comprehensive enterprises, advertising design, research and development, marketing, retail, and catering, all contributing to the development of university students.
According to Macao Polytechnic University’s 2023 Graduate Survey report, the employment and further education rate of MPU graduates is close to ninety percent, with an average monthly salary of MOP 16,000. The four main industries where graduates are employed are healthcare; education; entertainment and gaming; and trade, wholesale and retail. Graduates have been accepted into prestigious institutions for further studies, such as the University of Oxford, University of London, University of Edinburgh, Washington University, University of Coimbra, University of Lisbon, University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, Nanyang Technological University, Beijing Language and Culture University, and the University of Hong Kong.
