Severe tropical storm "Talim" is located about 230 kilometers south of Macao and is expected to move west-northwest, towards the west coast of Guangdong. According to the current forecast track, "Talim" will be closest to Macao between dawn and the morning today, and will maintain a distance about 200 kilometers south of Macao. Since "Talim" is expected to intensify, the associated zone of gale wind will cover the Pearl River Delta area for some time. In addition, winds will further strengthen once the wind direction changes to easterlies. Furthermore, under the influence of the outer rain band of "Talim", the local weather will become unsettled, with occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the tide level is increasing, under the joint effect of storm surge and astronomical tide, flooding might occur within the Inner Harbour area with flooding levels between 0.4 to 0.8m in the early morning on the 17th and 18th of July respectively. The public is advised to pay attention to the latest weather information.
