Possible warning signals to be issued due to the impact on "Talim"

Severe tropical storm "Talim" is located at about 380 kilometers south-southeast of Macao and is expected to move west-northwest, generally towards the area between the west coast of Guangdong and Hainan Island.

Under the influence of the outer rain band of "Talim", showers and thunderstorms has become more frequent, and winds are intensifying in Macao, and is expected to reach force 6 to 7 tonight. Therefore, the signal No.3 was issued at 17:30. According to the present track forecast, "Talim" will be closest to Macao between early morning and the morning of the 17th, passing by about 200 kilometers south of Macao. Since "Talim" is expected to further strengthen to a typhoon, and may undertake a track northward than expected, the associated zone of gale wind will cover the Pearl River Delta area for a period of time, SMG will consider the possibility of issuing the signal No.8, depending on its development.

Meanwhile, under the joint effect of storm surge and astronomical tide, flooding might occur within the Inner Harbour area with flooding levels between 0.4 to 0.8m on the early morning on 17th and 18th of July. The public is advised to pay attention to the latest weather information.
