Debut of online food-ordering service

The 14-day “Macao Week in Chongqing – Taste of Macao Food Promotion” is held to present Macao’s unique gastronomic brand – Macanese and Portuguese cuisine at the international restaurant named Seasonal Tastes and the Restaurant DUO under the Westin Chongqing Liberation Square from 3 to 16 December.

Awarded the Medals of Merit for Culinary Profession and Tourism by the Macao SAR Government in 1999 and 2016 respectively, Leading Chef of the “Taste of Macao Food Promotion”, Lou Chi Seng, meticulously prepares for Chongqing residents an exquisite buffet comprising 33 Macanese and Portuguese dishes as well as an à la carte menu of nine set meals, including baked sea bass in Portuguese style, rack of lamb in Portuguese style and Portuguese-style seafood in spicy sauce, among other culinary delights. What’s more, the Food Promotion is extended to provide online food-ordering service from 6 December onwards. Local patrons can order the individual set meals and enjoy a taste of Macao at home. Different dishes will also be mixed and matched on the menus at irregular intervals to create palate-tempting experiences for patrons in this diverse culinary journey of Macanese and Portuguese cuisine from Macao. During the event, Chef Lou will prepare Macanese and Portuguese delicacies in Chongqing and engage in profound culinary exchange with local chefs there.

Partner with KOL to highlight Macao’s gastronomic culture

The Food Promotion will feature two interactive live streams where Chef Lou, joined by two KOLs respectively, will introduce the essence of Macanese and Portuguese cuisine and conduct culinary presentation. Leveraging the impact of e-marketing and live broadcast to reach a wider audience, the Food Promotion aims to attract Mainland visitors to Macao for a memorable encounter with Macanese and Portuguese cuisine.

Promote “tourism + gastronomy” via multiple channels

Following the designation of Macao as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2017, the SAR Government immediately unfolded the four-year action plan to develop Macao as a Creative City of Gastronomy with vigorous efforts. In addition to organizing the “International Gastronomy Forum, Macao”, launching the Macanese Cuisine Database, as well as tailoring online learning videos, workshops and seminars for industry professionals among various initiatives, the Office has also incorporated gastronomy into the series of Macao Weeks, continuously propelling the concerted development of “tourism + gastronomy” by rolling out a range of food promotions.
