The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, is on a visit to Guangzhou, for the opening on 14 October of the 130th Canton Fair, known as the China Import and Export Fair, and the Pearl River International Trade Forum.

The visit takes place at the invitation of the Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China. At the opening ceremony, Premier of the State Council, Mr Li Keqiang, will deliver a keynote speech.

During Mr Ho’s absence, the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Mr Cheong Weng Chon, will take the role of Acting Chief Executive.
