If “Tropical Cyclone Signal no. 8 or above” is changed to “Tropical Cyclone Signal no. 3”, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will conduct inspection and assessment of all the green and leisure facilities under its management to safeguard public safety. To avoid affecting its front line staff when they carry out inspection of the places and emergency actions, the facilities will be closed to the public during the period. For those places that are equipped with doors, gates or main entrances and exits, notice signs will be put there to inform the public that the facilities are closed temporarily. The public should take note of these arrangements and consider using the facilities after the “list of reopened facilities” is announced.
After Tropical Cyclone Signal no. 8 is lifted, IAM will make an effort to announce a list of reopened facilities to the public within 24 hours concerning all the closed green areas. However, in case of Tropical Cyclone Signal no. 9 or above, a longer period for assessment is needed as there may be considerable impact on and damage to the green facilities. Under the circumstances, after Tropical Cyclone Signal no. 8 is lifted, IAM will make an effort to announce a list of reopened facilities to the public within 72 hours concerning all the closed green areas.
Through estimation, analysis and assessment, IAM will rate the facilities, like parks, gardens, leisure areas, trails and dog parks, into three levels, namely “remain open”, “partially open” and “temporarily closed”, depending on the degree of damage. It will draw up a list of reopened facilities and announce it on the IAM website (www.iam.gov.mo) and Macao Nature website (http://nature.iam.gov.mo). The public are advised to pay attention to the relevant information.
In addition, IAM reminds the public to keep away from slopes or staying near them as much as possible before and after typhoons or heavy rain, so as to avoid the hazard of landslide. Currently, a total of 14 trails in Taipa and Coloane have been temporarily closed until further notice. When the facilities are closed, IAM urges the public not to enter there on their own to avoid danger.
