The project titled “Stay, Dine and See Macao” has been unveiled to accept applications since 15 April, attracting many applicants by far. As part of the project, local tours have been rolled out for two weekends, with more to come on weekends and public holidays in May and June. The project is tailored to support travel industry professionals by creating job opportunities as a form of relief, while joining industry operators to invest resources in launching remarkable local tour itineraries, spurring new rises in domestic demand and spending in local communities.

Stay, Dine and See Macao” draws many applicants, 29 groups set off during the 1st May Labour Day Holiday

The “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project includes local tours and local hotel staycations. Up to 5 May, a total of 5,701 residents have signed up for the six local tour itineraries; 16 groups have embarked upon local tours on the day of launch (25 April), involving 506 residents, while a total of 29 groups set off over the past weekend during the 1st May Labour Day Holiday (1 and 2 May), involving 858 residents in total. It is estimated that 1,326 residents will set off for local tours on 8 and 9 May. For experience of local hotels, a volume of 2,556 hotel packages have been sold up to 5 May, involving 6,394 overnight guests in total.

E-voucher scheme can be used for signing up for local tours

The project features six local tour itineraries. Every Macao resident is entitled to a maximum of 280-patacas subsidy for local tour participation, as well as a 100-patacas dining card (except helicopter ride experience and yacht check-in tour). Residents can also join the local tours and local hotel experience of the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project by spending on the e-voucher scheme launched by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. The local tours are expected to stimulate economic revival in local communities and benefit small and medium-sized enterprises including Distinctive Shops and Certified Shops, among other businesses. In addition, the local tours are launched to support frontline workers of the tourism industry and foster community tourism, while familiarizing residents with local tourism resources.

The “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project is running local tours between 25 April and 31 December. Tours are available on weekends and public holidays from April — June, September — December while the frequency of tours will be augmented to daily operation as planned during July and August, the period of summer holidays. Under the project, residents can also enjoy staycations at local hotels from Monday to Sunday as well as on public holidays between 23 April and 31 December. For details about joining the project for local tours and hotel experience as well as information about various travel agencies concerned, please visit the designated website: https://www.macaotourism.gov.mo/en/article/subsidies/macao-tour-hotel

Trade will soon launch themed tours tailored for visitors

To prepare for welcoming more visitors to Macao, Macao’s travel trade will soon launch themed tours tailored for visitors. Active planning is underway to design in-depth itineraries which cater to visitors’ demands. Macao themed tour itineraries are jointly coordinated by Macau Travel Agency Association, Association of Macao Tourist Agents and Travel Industry Council of Macau. MGTO will assist in promotion as a supporting entity with the aspiration to promote in-depth travel and enable visitors to experience Macao’s profound history, cultural landscape and “tourism+” elements, as well as promote community tourism development and stimulate spending in communities. Industry operators are gearing up for launching a variety of themed tour itineraries in mid or late May with more details to be announced in due time.
