In preparation for the upcoming 1st May Labor Day Holidays from 1 – 5 May, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is carrying out different measures to welcome visitors and promote various information on pandemic prevention to ensure safe and quality travel.

Promotion for pandemic prevention

MGTO leverages different channels to inform visitors comprehensively about the pandemic situation and prevention, including posting pandemic prevention guidelines on its website, publicizing information about pandemic prevention at MGTO’s Tourist Information counters at different ports of entry, calling for attention on pandemic prevention on MGTO’s WeChat and Weibo accounts, producing and distributing leaflets of “Pandemic prevention tips for Mainland visitors in Macao” at MGTO’s Tourist Information counters, while reminding travel industry operators to carry out pandemic preventive measures in accordance with related advices and guidelines issued by Health Bureau against COVID-19. Hotels and tourism businesses also continue to help spread messages about pandemic prevention among visitors.

Rigorous patrols

During the Labour Day Holidays, the Office will conduct patrols at various tourist spots, ports of entry and districts, besides overseeing measures taken by hotels against the pandemic, with MGTO inspectors standing by round-the-clock. Tourist Information counters tend to visitors’ enquiries, whereas MGTO's tourism hotline (853) 2833 3000 maintains its 24-hour operator service.

Online and offline promotions continue

In terms of online promotion, the Office continues to partner with various e-commerce platforms where a series of travel, hotel and air-ticket special offers are launched to attract visitors to Macao, stimulate rises in tourism expenditure and extend visitors’ length of stay in Macao.

For offline promotion, the Office is gearing up for a range of promotional initiatives to draw visitors to Macao. Around the 1st May Labour Day Holidays, MGTO rolls out advertisements and featured programs not only in the cabins of high-speed rail trains but also on national TV channels as well as TV channels across ten major visitor source markets in Mainland China, continuing to promote and highlight Macao as a healthy and safe destination that exempts Mainland visitors from quarantine.

Produce Macao Food Guide and support community activities

MGTO partners with the General Union of Neighbors Association of Macau, the United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macao, the Industry and Commerce Association of Macau Northern District, the Industry and Commerce Federation of Macau Central and Southern District as well as the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macao to publish the "Macao Food Guide for the 1st May Vacation" (Chinese and electronic version only), offering a contact list of restaurants and eateries open during the Labor Day Holidays. The Office also supports a range of community activities to be held during the Labour Day Holidays to stimulate travel and spending in communities.

Advanced ticketing goes well for Macao Grand Prix Museum

During trial operation, the Macao Grand Prix Museum is open to the public as usual (closed on Tuesdays). As tickets from 1 – 3 May have been sold out already, the Museum will increase ticket quotas during the Labour Day Holidays, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents and visitors are welcome to schedule visits and purchase tickets online.
