The 32nd Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will be held in May 2022. Over the years, IC has striven to promote the development of local arts and provide a platform for the performing arts and for artistic exchange. IC is now inviting all registered local associations and individuals to submit proposals of local programmes until 23 November 2020. The selected works will be included in the MAF in May 2022.

The MAF is committed to expanding the platform of local performing arts and attracting more creative programmes with local features. Non-profit art and cultural associations registered at the Identification Services Bureau of the Macao SAR or individuals aged 18 or above with valid Macao SAR resident identification documents are now invited to submit programme proposals for the 32nd Macao Arts Festival. In order to encourage innovation in artistic creation and to further expand the room for the development of artistic practitioners, priority will be given to works integrating electronic or digital technology, cross-disciplinary theatre breaking through the conventional spectator-performer relationship or spatial limitations, and productions inspired by local intangible cultural heritage or the traditional Chinese performing arts, in addition to local theatre, Cantonese Opera, dance, children’s shows and multimedia performing arts. Meanwhile, the popular “Performing Arts Gala” will also accept proposals of outdoor family programmes; performance styles are not restricted and priority will be given to works that feature interactive activities or characteristics of the local communities.

Interested local associations and individuals can submit the registration forms and programme proposals for the 32nd Macao Arts Festival by 5:45pm on 23 November 2020. The regulations and application forms of the call for proposals can be downloaded from IC’s website at www.icm.gov.mo.Application forms and relevant information should be submitted in person during office hours or by mail to the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building located at Tap Siac Square, or by email to fam@icm.gov.mo, indicating the following on the envelope: Attn: Division of Performing Arts, Cultural Affairs Bureau, Call for Proposals of Local Programmes for the 32nd Macao Arts Festival”.
