The 2019 Macao International Parade, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, will be held on 8 December. In order to promote the popularization of art education and bring the jubilance of the Parade to local schools, the Organizer invited some art groups to perform, interact and share their experience with students on campuses. All interested schools are welcome to register.
Some participating groups were invited by this year’s Parade in conjunction with the popular project “Lectures on Cultural Topics”, to offer campus activities from late November to early December, allowing students to experience customs and cultures of different countries and regions. From 25 November to 5 December, secondary school students will participate in the “Exploring the Backstage, Costumes and Props”, where groups of students will visit the backstage of The House of Dancing Water – a unique water extravaganza hosted by the City of Dreams. During the event, the professional backstage crew will guide the students to explore the backstage and take a closer look at the costumes and props, giving them a deeper understanding of the operations of a world-class large-scale performance. The students can also exchange views with international performers to broaden their horizons. The activity is for secondary school students and the guided tour will be conducted in Cantonese, Mandarin or English. The Htwe Oo Myanmar Puppetry Home from Yangon will present “Traditional Puppets in Myanmar” in campuses during the abovementioned period, sharing with the students the history and fun facts of traditional puppet performances which boast more than 500 years of history in the country. The activity is for primary school students and will be conducted in English with Cantonese interpretation provided.
In addition, the Kecskemét Folk Dance Ensemble from Hungary will stage the performance “Hungarian Dances” on 4 and 5 December, presenting dances of the nation living in the Carpathian Basin in different periods, such as Ugrós and Csárdás. The ensemble will also guide the students in learning the dancing techniques to the sound of the rhythmic melodies. The activity is suitable for secondary school students and will be conducted in English with Cantonese interpretation.
The vacancies for the campus activities are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. All interested schools are welcome to register.
