In view of the coming of the typhoon season, Judiciary Police continues to hold briefing sessions and simulation drills under the coordination of the Unitary Police Service to strengthen public awareness on disaster prevention and storm surge evacuation in order to facilitate speedy, safe and orderly evacuations among members of the public during typhoon and storm surge.
“Storm Surge Evacuation Plan in Low-lying Areas during Typhoon” simulation drill will be held at 2:30pm on 30 June 2019 in Zone C (from Ponte 16 to R. Francisco Antonio and moving east to NAPE) where Judiciary Police is responsible for the evacuation process.
The drill will simulate Macao being hit by a storm surge and civil protection entities activated the evacuation plan as directed. Judiciary Police will carry out evacuation in the designated zone and explain the plan to shop owners and residents including precautionary measures for disasters and the emergency evacuation staying points etc. Broadcasts will be made via Judiciary Police vehicles to remind residents in the area about the drill.
We believe the drill will not only help enhance the coordination and support between the command centre and the evacuation team members, but also give the public a clearer picture of the escape routes, evacuation process and the necessary precautions in advance. Finally, we will review the drill via public feedback in order to ensure a smooth and effective evacuation in the future.
