The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, met yesterday evening (Wednesday) with front-line medical workers, and personnel of the Social Welfare Bureau and of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau that were involved in the post-typhoon rescue and recovery efforts.

Mr Chui thanked all the front-line personnel for their selfless dedication to duty, and also extended his gratitude to their families for their support and understanding.

During the meeting, the Chief Executive also listened to the problems these front-line personnel faced during their rescue and recovery efforts, and heard their opinions on how the Government might improve its disaster response capability in the future.

Mr Chui noted that in his 18 years of public service in Macao, two major incidents – the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic in 2003 and Typhoon Hato on 23 August – had stood testimony to public workers’ spirit of putting the community first.
