Daniel Harding leads orchestra at CCM
The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the London Symphony Orchestra in an exclusive performance to be held at the Grand Auditorium on March 1, 2017 (Wednesday). Led by celebrated British conductor Daniel Harding, this concert will bring refined interpretations of Sibelius’ enigmatic yet ethereal Seventh Symphony and of Rachmaninov’s passionate Second Symphony.
The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) has built, for over a century, a worldwide reputation of refinement both in live concerts and recordings. Founded in 1904, the LSO was ranked fourth best orchestra in the world by Gramophone magazine. Performing about 140 concerts each year in the UK and abroad, the symphony often leaves its home base at London’s Barbican Centre to go on tours at international leading concert halls and festivals where it is always received by numerous admirers. The widely acclaimed group of musicians is a world-leader in music recordings for both film and television and was chosen to be the official orchestra of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The LSO has always attracted excellent interpreters from around the globe, working with a roster of the best soloists and maestros, including names such as the orchestra’s forthcoming Music Director, Sir Simon Rattle, and Conductor Emeritus André Previn. The LSO has also a longstanding relationship with some of the world’s top-notch musicians, having played with widely acclaimed stars like Daniel Barenboim, Martha Argerich and Anne-Sophie Mutter or Plácido Domingo, amongst many others.
Complementing the concert, CCM will host a Pre-performance talk unveiling in-depth views both on the programme and the orchestra. This free admission session in Cantonese will take place at CCM’s conference room, one hour before the concert.
CCM is presenting the London Symphony Orchestra in concert on March 1, 2017 (Wednesday).
