Coverage of the 2012 Service Sector Survey comprised Real Estate Management Services, Security Services, Cleaning Services, Advertising, and Conference & Exhibition Organising Services.
There were 195 establishments operating in Real Estate Management Services in 2012, an increase of 11 year-on-year; number of persons engaged increased by 7% to 5,139. Receipts (MOP 924 million) and Expenditure (MOP 810 million) went up by 14% and 16% respectively year-on-year. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy amounted to MOP 523 million, up by 12%; Gross Fixed Capital Formation increased by 35% to MOP 6 million.
A total of 20 establishments were engaging in Security Services, up by 4 over 2011. Number of persons engaged increased by 8% to 5,119. Receipts amounted to MOP 792 million, up by 18% year-on-year; Expenditure rose by 7% to MOP 680 million, of which Compensation of Employees amounted to MOP 569 million (84% of total). Gross Value Added increased by 28% year-on-year to MOP 681 million, while Gross Fixed Capital Formation decreased by 32% to MOP 2 million.
There were 114 establishments operating in Cleaning Services, an increase of 12 year-on-year; number of persons engaged increased by 14% to 4,395. Receipts (MOP 483 million) and Expenditure (MOP 402 million) went up by 26% and 14% respectively. Gross Value Added amounted to MOP 407 million, up by 32% year-on-year; Gross Fixed Capital Formation soared by 258% to MOP 7 million on account of an increase in acquisition of machines and vehicles.
Number of advertising agencies increased by 21 year-on-year to 358; however, number of persons engaged rose by 4 only to 976. Receipts increased by 8% year-on-year to MOP 399 million, of which receipts from Advertising Services amounted to MOP 281 million (70% of total). Expenditure went up by 12% to MOP 343 million. Gross Value Added totalled MOP 142 million, down by 6% year-on-year; Gross Fixed Capital Formation surged by 396% to MOP 34 million owing to an increase in acquisition of machines and equipment.
A total of 33 establishments were operating in Conference & Exhibition Organising Services, up by 7 over 2011; nevertheless, number of persons engaged decreased by 4 to 130. Receipts increased by 54% year-on-year to MOP 206 million, with those from Conference & Exhibition Organising Services amounting to MOP 182 million (88% of total). Expenditure went up by 41% to MOP 158 million. Gross Value Added surged by 79% year-on-year to MOP 72 million, while Gross Fixed Capital Formation decreased by 58% to MOP 2 million.
